It was a short but fun season and now it's time to think about what we want to run next season. Any and all suggestions will be considered. When we have enough I will create a poll. I'll start by suggesting Fly classics, Ninco classics, true vintage 1/24 open wheel, Carrera classics (Cheetah, Cobra, Corvette, etc.) Carrera Can Am to name a few. Tom

1/32 Vintage muscle cars, Revell made Mustang, Cougar, Camaro, Firebird, AMX, and Corvette. Eldon had a metallic Blue Camaro that was the "brightest" car on the track. K&B/Aurora had a Mustang, Barracuda and a 65 GTO. AMT had a Mustang. Strombecker had a Barracuda.
Group 5 cars. Sideways makes at least 20 different cars, yes that is about how many I have. ScaleAuto made some Group 5 cars also.
Saturday Night "stock cars" - 50's - 60's - I have found some Revell Snap-Together bodies. 55/57 Chevy, 57 Ford. I found a 65 Pontiac GTO body also. Carrera made the 57 Chevy and a 60 Plymouth also. Professor motor had some of the old Monogram bodies, 67 Fairlane. These would have to built from ground up. The snap-together bodies are narrow, so tires would be out of the fenders like the Saturday night stock cars did.
For you open wheel fans- NSR makes a "no name" 86/89 Formula car, fast and good handling.

As you might expect, I would love to run the 1/24 open wheel true vintage cars. There are so many cool ones and they all get along pretty well so it should be exiting. I like the idea of some kind of muscle car class too. Remember we did run T/V pony cars a few years ago and it was fun.

Mid 1980s IROC Camaro class, box stock. Scalextric made a blue one and a red one. (May have to paint a car to have more color choices than red/blue.)

In 1985 Mario Andretti looks to have driven a pink IROC Camaro. Have you put your name on the side of your blue/red IROC Camaro, Jim? I just got an interesting idea for the series. If someone, or a couple of guys, got a full complement of 4 or more of the iroc cars and tuned them exactly alike and then brought them to the races for everyone to run as they did back in the real series I think. Or if guys want to run they're own car we can put out a strong spec sheet and stick to it. Home practice would be done with your own car but a similar car could suffice if it is specked out right. Just a thought, David

Just a thought, David I have both the red and blue cars. I would be willing to put my cars in for everyone to run in an IROC race, however I think I sanded the chassis on both to improve body float.

I also have the Scalextric 1985 Monte Carlo and Thunderbird. There are at least 3 different Thunderbirds and at least 6 different Monte Carlos.

Doug, As you know, I would never put my name on the side of my car, I do put it on the bottom so everyone can see it.

How about a true vintage "brand" class? Monogram '60s endurance cars (Ferrari 275P, 250/330 LM, Ford GT, Lola T70, etc.) or Revell '50s/'60s sports cars ( Cobra, Corvette, Mercedes, Aston Martin, Ferrari GTO, etc). How about trying the Cheetah class again (Cox vs. Strombecker?) --any brand but not necessarily true vintage. Tom

I do like the single brand true vintage class idea. the only issue being which brand and which series of the brand. In Cox for example there are only two hard body cars to choose from, the gt-40 and Cheetah. Then they switched to clear bodied IFC chassis with a 13d then a 16d nascar motor. Atlas only made the two f1 cars and two endurance cars. If we do it, we are safe with k&b/aurora as they did a bunch of options and they are all the same chassis and motor. Early Monogram also is wide open. Strombecker has a lot of different levels from junky to excellent and in between so that would also work. Just some ideas to expand on the theme.

If we did the single brand true vintage class for Atlas, I have an adapter from Atlas that allows you to use a Revell or Monogram body. It sets on the rear axle bushings. I would confuse everyone with my different bodies. Whatever single brand class, if chosen, I should have a car or two to pick from. I may have every body from Revell, Monogram, Strombecker, Cox, AMT and Atlas. Also have their standard and "performace" chassis too, from Revell, Monogram and Strombecker. The Strombecker Barracuda is a hard one to find with the rear bumper, thank you Fred.

Do worry about all of these cars. The only Winner I have is the Atlas F1 car.
