Hi Mark W,
I think we should start looking at January. December is filling up for me. 12/7 is a Wednesday. I have banquets on both ends of that week. Plus it gives folks a little time to round stuff up. (Tools and Cars)
Everyone - Do I have a headcount on this deal?
Tom D - Mark W - Marc G - Jim W - Steve Burkey - Are you wanting to take the class or help teach it? LOL
I would like there to be 5 guys here before I start on this tools list.

The RMSCC runs Wednesday on the 4th and 14th in January. Which follows a Saturday race. The Vintage clubs next race is Dec 3rd at my track but nothing set for January. There is a cross over between both clubs, all but Steve and you run RMSCC. Threading the needle is always a challenge....

Tom your house would be fine. The only issue is if we were going to send folks upstairs for supplies at the store. That is easy to fix and we dont necessarily need that luxury. I dont know that we will need to do much work at your house necessarily.
Dan and I are talking about tools now and I will put out a list later this week to this thread.

I have one "good" chassis and another chassis that is missing the guide flag holder and front body mount. The good chassis will fit on my Corvette bodies, so I am ready for that first project. I also have the Monogram cars, so I am set for the second project also.
I am available at most any time, since "Every day is a Saturday", retired, for me.

I just found the listing of the Revell non-adjustable aluminum chassis with the EBD 16D motor. The "silver" can motor is good motor for our racing. (I have one is in my White Corvette as does Tom in his Corvette)
81501 - 76mm wb - Corvette or Aston Martin 81502 - 74mm wb - Ferrari 250 GTO or Mercedes 300SL 81521 - 76mm wb - Corvette or Aston Martin 81522 - 74mm wb - Ferrari 250 GTO or Mercedes 300SL 81516 - 71mm wb - Chaparral 2C or Lang's Cooper Ford no # - 68mm wb - Sunbeam or Triumph
There are some chassis that do not have a number stamped on them. These were from other locations than U.S.A.
Note - 81510 and 81511 are for the wrong motor, 15R motor. This is a longer motor that is not desirable for our use.

Jim, thanks for all the numbers. You must have dug deep for those. Interesting note is that again, these cars were the only Revells to come as RTR's and thus use that alu. pan. The Cobras were all kits, and the earlier 63 Vette and XKE were originally "component" cars, then became the first release kits. My junkyard is empty of these at present, but I'm sure one of my runners will serve when I decide to make it a racer and sacrifice the originality. The contemporary Monogram stockers always needed lots of help. Would hack one up in an instant as long as the "fix" doesn't end up costing as much as the car did! No affection for the 15R?? Awww. . . God bless the 15R, I like 'em. S

Hey Jim,
1) Thanks for the chassis list and yes that is them. I started a list of these numbers a year ago and may have some numbers to add. 2) These chassis are weak in the guide/front body mount area. If that is missing then "Never throw that away" (Tom, Steve, Mr Berry) We are going to remove this part of the chassis anyway.

These are neat cars and the chassis is close in many respects to being a fun little unit. Draw backs are the press fit aluminum wheels (Dont toss these either) and gear as well as the bearing situation. I understand why this was done back in the day and still see it as better than the current construction of slot cars but it wasnt long before the gear mesh was a mess. Add to this the fact of how the motor was mounted and the guide has no travel. Its still a cool vintage chassis that sold well and there are many examples so you can have one of each in original condition and one with this mod that will still be original in many aspects.
WHAT ARE WE GOING TO BUILD YOU ASK? This will be an item that replaces the guide tongue, front body mount and front motor mount in a neat little single unit. This is something that I designed last year and then sprung the idea on Dan Wilson at lunch one day. He laughed and asked why I didnt just build the entire thing as a brass replacement. I told him I wanted to keep as much of the original car for the historic aspects. (I feel differently about much of the modern stuff...LOL) When this is done you will have something cool that you built that makes the car better.
After we have this complete and you can run these cars then I have a further modification that will be period and help with handling.

Marc G - That one is really nice and has all the trim on it. I think based on that I would go $55 or so......It could sell higher because its complete. Even $75 with it being in such nice shape isnt bad. I would say that for the most part I have paid between $15 and $55 for most of the Revell cars I have unless it was a package deal.

I went back and looked at my notes on the chassis numbers that you posted. I am going to post the excerpt below and add some notes below it.
81501 - 76mm wb - Corvette or Aston Martin 81502 - 74mm wb - Ferrari 250 GTO or Mercedes 300SL 81522 - 76mm wb - Corvette or Aston Martin 81522 - 74mm wb - Ferrari 250 GTO or Mercedes 300SL 81516 - 71mm wb - Chaparral 2C or Lang's Cooper Ford no # - 68mm wb - Sunbeam or Triumph
Mark M: There are two 81522's listed above. One of those is supposed to be a 81521 and is a typo. I think that 81501 and 81521 are the same length. 81501 seems to be one of the most common surviving chassis available. This is closely followed by 81502.
81516 for the Chap has a much higher side rail. 81522 is the same length as 81502 but also has a much higher side rail.
These last two chassis are much less common.
This should help folks decide what is more collectible and help with their decision on what to modify for vintage racing.
