I was just wondering what you all think about the club donating funds for the electronic portion of the Colpar club track? (controllers, power supply and timing system) It would come out of the treasurey or by individual donations. Let me know what you think.

I have a first draft of a layout done at the store if anyone wants to come by and give their opinion of it or offer other ideas. It's an 8x24 4 lane Carrera, with a long straight and a bank at the end of the straight, and some twisty sections. I like it but I need other opinions.

i think that some individual contributions would be the best route. Tom, i kind of remember you had suggested the TrakMate timing system. It is fairly inexpensive,, and certainly we could get a donated computer and monitor. The Trakmate system works fine with 486 thru all Pentium years. It has a very small computer requirement. I recently replaced my big CRT monitores with 2 19 inch LED monitors. (got them 2 for 65$) . I dont have to worry about the weight pullng them off of the wall now. I did get rid of the old CRT monitors however. Anyone have some computer stuff to donate. The TrakMate works with any power supply. I am kind of partial to the 12volt battery. I have a decent sealed battery from a portable Xray machine. It ran a 600 pound XRay maching around the hospital, so it should handle some tiny slot cars, probably put out 25-50 amps max. I am presuming we want Professor Motor controllers. Maybe some one has replaced older ones with the transistor models? I kind of like to keep my older ones for kids to use, as they have a habit of dropping controllers.

perhaps with individual contributions, Colpar could offer some "free track time" on a card, sort of like the old days. On the other subject, I'm waiting for some consensus/vote/agreement of some sort regarding the appointing of a treasurer so those funds can be forwarded over. Steve

Club members would be able to run on the track for free--any time. I thought I was the club treasurer since I have the rest of the funds. Individual donations wouldd also work--Doug already put in $15.00. The RMSCC is voting down this idea of club fund donations. I really don't understand why.

I missed the poll on this but would have voted yes to put some club funds up for a nice track to use even though I live far away.

Thanks Dave. We're just about to get the track on a table. The power supply and driver stations are on the way and I will get Trackmate timing as soon as I'm ready for it.

RMSCC has donated $200, I stoped by the Colpar Wed night and took a couple laps of the track on the floor. Looks like it will be lots of fun. We may need to organise a work party to help with the tables and such.

I have all the stuff for the table so I can get started with it either today or Monday. If anyone can stop by during the day and help, that would be great but if not I can handle it too.

I'd rather do it during the day but I'll think about it.

I just got the controllers (Prof. Mtr. adjustable) , the power supply (MG Pro), 4 lane wiring set and drivers stations. Between the 2 clubs, we donated $315.00 of the $515.00 those items cost. Thanks to both clubs!!! As soon as I get one more support table, I can get started setting up the track. I have the copper tape also. The store can supply the computer stuff and I'll get the Trackmate software and the paint. Hopefully, the track will be ready to go late August. Tom ;D

The track is wired, thanks to Dave Crosby, and we have power, so now I have to get a computer with a working CD ROM so I can load the program. I should have that by next week. Then paint, copper tape and fencing and it will be ready to race on.

Tom - have you got a digital camera? If so, how 'bout posting some "teaser" photos of the Colpar track to the forum?
