Geez! It's starting to look like we'll need a tie breaker to settle the tie breaker. I think they call that a coin...

uhh, looks like it's a tie. I don't have strong feelings about this, but would have gone for the v8's

Does this mean I finally know what to work on? Bill

Yes Bill, especially if you are working on any thing other than a vette or cobra. Since we have raced them recently and often in the past, the committee is considering excluding them to get some new and different cars racing. We wouldn't mind some limited feedback on this idea though. David

If you're going to exclude them, we better have a list of other eligible cars, and soon. BTW, I disagree with excluding them.

Morgan +8 Morgan Aero 8 Morgan Aeromax Pantera Ford GT Cobra Daytona coupe (debatable) Panoz Ferrari F 360 Ferrari F 430 Mercedes SLR McLaren Mercedes SLS Coupe Mosler MT900s
There's a dozen. It's all I have time for today. They are all available now or have been in the VERY recent past. This list doesn't include any vintage slotcars, but there's no reason to exclude them. They're just harder to research/find. Ask Dave about them. If these don't make folks happy I'll dig some more.
That said, I'd like to make the Vettes and Cobras legal too. I just would like to limit them so we actually see some new iron. How about holding some kind of online lottery to see which ONE person gets to (IF they want to) each? (That's one Cobra guy and one vette guy) Surely we can get enough variety this way.

Most of these cars are post 1980 so do not fit the distinctives of the vintage club. That's what makes this class challenging. We should probably include the Vettes and Cobras.

Oops, you're right Steve. I guess that since I dreamed up the class I forgot about our cut-off date. That said, the Morgan +8 is still ok, as is the Pantera. I would argue that the Cobra coupe and the Ford GT should be allowed as recreations which are street drivable production cars and have V8 engines. Perhaps this stretches it too much for some, but not for me.
So let's see, 1 Cobra, 1 Corvette, 1 TR8 (my own concoction). These would be the likely "only one" cars. Then Cobra Daytona, Pantera, Ford GT,Morgan +8. That's seven with no duplication. I'll look for more, but I'm not the only one who can look. How about it guys? I know with a little digging we can come up with enough variety to make this work. And, I agree that grids full of nothing but Cobra roadsters and Vettes would be a snooze. C'mon, let's work this out.
By the way, what IS our present cut-off date? Did it get decided that it would be a rolling date, or is there one specific year. We (dammit) are well into the twentyfirst century here...

The cutoff year is 30 years at the start of the season. This season it's 1980 next season 81 etc. This class will be for production cars so Cobra Daytonas (six made originally) and street legal race cars like GT-40s are excluded. There are more than you think if you really put your mind to it though. Sunbeam Tiger, Maserrati Bora, 450SL & Ford 55-57 t-bird to name a few. Stay tuned we are working on rules now. David
