I've been on a bit of a tear buying some vintage cars. Yes, me. Can you believe it? But... they're all 1/24 - I've a Cox Ferrari and BRM F1, A Ferrari Dino coupe and with any luck, a Lotus 40. So, with that being said, I'd love to see a 1/24 class next season and I've a friend waiting in the wings with a decent selection of his own vintage 1/24ths to join the club if that transpires.

Hmmmmm . . . very interesting.
Fred Martin was at my house this afternoon (6 Jan 2019), to run on my track. He brought two 1:24 Corvette C-5 (Carrera) cars with him, at my request. We ran the Corvettes, at 18 volts. One can get around my track okay, and cut some respectable times. But the guy running the yellow lane (with more inside turns), had an easy time of knocking the other guy out of the red lane, when the cars were running side-by-side. The Corvettes negotiated the upper and lower banked lanes (#2 Carrera) okay. There was the sound of scraping as the cars ran through the lower banked lane, however.
I am gonna guess the the Carrera Corvette C-5 is wider and lower than a vintage Cox Ferrari F1, BRM F1, Lotus 40, Ferrari Dino, etc. So perhaps a 1:24 scale vintage class is possible.
A longer, more open track, such as Fred's, better lends itself to racing 1:24 scale slot cars . . . IMO.

We've run 4 at Colpar and at Jim's before. Some care is needed but with their mass I think they're a bit harder to deslot with contact - rear end grip is helped with putting on Supertires or PG urethane tires if nothing else is available. Still, it can happen but thats racing. We generally run Scaleauto, BRM, and Carrera cars. Another thing we've done is remotor the Carreras with the RMS motor (19.99 each, plug and play) from Cincyslots so that we can run all the brands together at the same voltage. I'd love to have two 1/24 classes but we can run the newer cars I just talked about in the other club and the true vintage ones here (F1? Sports cars?) if we do in fact run them next season.
And I did snag that Cox Lotus 40. I did buy a spare Cox chassis thats going to go under a '53 Hudson Hornet to be done up in a La Carrera Panamaerica livery but thats another discussion for another time.
