Can anyone help me on removing Cox taper axle wheels. They are stuck on the axle and I would like to remove without damaging the wheels.

could a gear puller be adapted for use? Recently I had a situation with some vintage Carrera: metal wheels press-fit onto splined axles. I was able to get the axle into the vise at an angle, then used a small punch to gently tap at the back of the hub area.
