"Gentlemen, start your engines . . ."
Class rules for our 2015 - 2016 racing season are as follows . . .
TRUE VINTAGE "Open Wheel"
1. No rewound motors allowed
2. All other pre-1969 motors are allowed
3. Maximum tire width will be 3/8" (0.375 inch)
4. Overall width of car will be limited to 2 3/8" (2.375 inch)
5. A few modern parts will be allowed for consumable items: gears, braids, tires, guide shoe (must be very close in dimension to original shoe. No commercial or 1/24 scale shoes).
6. Retro wheels (such as EJs) will be allowed.
7. Modern wheel inserts will be allowed if they conform to period wheels.
All other general rules will apply.
UNLIMITED CLASS "1960s Le Mans"
1. Class is limited to automobiles that started the 24 Hours of Le Mans race between 1960 and 1969. Link to en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1965_24_Hours_of_Le_Mans to find eligible cars. At the bottom of the Wikipedia document one can click on any of the years that the 24 Hours of Le Mans was contested, to see a list of cars (for that particular year) that finished the race or that started the race. The slot car you choose to race in this class must be on the Wikipedia list of finishers and starters for the years 1960 to 1969.
2. Modern electric motors will be limited to a maximum of 25,000 RPMs. Racers may chose a vintage motor for power, as well.
All other general rules will apply.
BOX STOCK - Plus "Trans Am"
1. The car you choose to compete with must be manufactured by Scalextric, SCX or Pioneer and have raced in the Trans Am series between 1966 and 1972.
2. All racers will remove magnet(s) from stock chassis.
3. Weights may be added at racer's discretion.
4. After-market tires may be used.
All other general rules will apply.
As always . . . the look of realism and fair competition are of PRIME importance.
Your Racing Committee thanks you for your participation in the upcoming season.
