Daryl, We did run the Vintage F1 cars in the 2020-2021 season. I let Tom use my Strombecker Lotus 38, that I just bought from him, in a race at my house and he ran it "wide open" into the fence on the end of the straight away on my track. We both had puzzled looks after the crash. The crown gear was slipping so the car didn't have any brakes. Tom felt bad, so he took the car home and glued the loose exhaust pipe back on the car for me. Thanks Tom, the car is better than new and is inside my display case now. I ran my other Strombecker Lotus 38 that doesn't have any detailing on the body. Jim W I corrected my error. I guess that Covid time really flew by!

As you are aware, I am pretty new to the Vintage club but I would think that we should be vintage in all the classes we race. That being said, it does not mean that we could not run a class of current chassis but a body for a vintage class. Assuming we want to do 3 classes again, which seemed to work well this year how about we pick 3 time periods then suggest classes for that time period. So 60's, 70's and 80's. I would assume the Revel and Strombecker cars would be considered when they were built, so 1960' The Fly Classic Cars were mostly 70's The TransAm Cars were 60's and 70's 86/89 Cars were F1 of that time frame. Let me know if I am on the right track. If so I would propose : 1960's Front engine GT cars, with max 20k motor, original chassis gearing and tires open : 1960/70 Slot.it Can Am cars
: 1970 / 1980 Group 5 cars from Scalextric / Sideways / ?
: 1960's Cox Formula One cars
: 1960/ 1970 Thunderslot Can Am cars
: 1980 NASCAR ........ Should be a single mfg
: 1960 NASCAR ...... Again single mfg
Thanks Mark

I have been working on a Ninco 356 and got a wild hair idea for a class of rolly polly cars. Beatles, 356s, Audi TTs, minis, I can think of quite a few cars that because they are too narrow and top heavy, never have a chance in any of the classes we run because they don't corner fast enough. Running a class of them might be a hoot and make us all better drivers. The challenge would be making rules.

Austin Healey is probably a little too low or right at the limit of what I'm thinking of rolly-polly. Definitely not a convertible though. The defining characteristic is it has to be prone to tipping over as opposed to sliding around a corner.

Okay cool it's a hard top, I got it to run in the Sebring class in RMSCC but I chose another car instead because the Austin Healey was too rolly polly ish to be competitive in that class. Chris

So the XKEs would be perfect for this? Monogram, Scalextric, Ninco?
