I did take a look at my Mustang and the motor mount did break and "allowed" the axle and motor to separate while under power. Is this called the "Ninco" hop? I will be looking at how I install and mount a motor in the motor pods. This is the first motor mount that has broken while racing. I guess the Piranha 21.5K motor has plenty of torque!!

Jim, I'm guessing yours is the Scalex 15 Mustang? Were you running the stock chassis? This is what happened to my Mustang last fall at Colpar: had loaned it to the youngster to race; it was visibly slowing with all kinds of gear racket. I had also switched out to a bit faster Mabuchi motor, and the mount cracked under duress. I do wonder about the plastic going brittle with age, and of course the stress of popping the motor in and out of that "saddle". Gotta say I still prefer "vintage brass" for motor mounting

Jim was running a Pioneer Mustang with a 3D chassis, If I remember. Tom Yes, I was running a 3D printed chassis in my Pioneer Mustang. I have a Slot.it motor pod in the 3D printed chassis. The motor pod did not have a screw in the rear motor mounting hole. The pod flexed during one of my great crashes and the then had a bad gear mesh sound. The motor pod is cracked between the mounting screws, so it flexes now. This is the first time I have ever had a motor pod break while racing. I will be putting screws in the rear hole from now on.
