I don't know about anyone else, but I am not in favor of changing rules after a season has started.
A couple of changes to the rules have been brought up.
1. Do we need to establish a minimum amount of racers before a race is "official"?
I have attended a race when we had 4 racers. We were able to hold the race and marshal the event. The host was not informed by all of the racers that couldn't make the event to reschedule. After driving the distance to attend this race, we went ahead and ran the race. Are we going to "punish" the guys that make the race?
As a track host, when guys attend my race, I will host a race. Weather can be an issue. I can not force someone to drive all the way out to my track if they don't want to. When members attend my race, I always have had prepared something for them to eat. If I would know who is not coming, I could adjust these preparations.
2. Do we need to change the points if "less than" attend a race?
Here I really think the attendee is getting the "short stick". If you make the race, you are the one not getting the points. Someone like Jim Barr, that makes the races, would not get his full points for winning a hard fought win. Why would we not give him all he is due? When you don't attend a race, you don't get any points. When you win a race, we have established that you get 10 points. Are we going to change the system, if there are over 10 racers, the winner gets say, 20 points. If 6 or less racers, 5 points. Why do we need to change it???
Points are kept for all races, maybe the host shouldn't get the same as the racers attending. If the host wins, don't give him his points, give them to the guy that drove the farthest. This would help eliminate "home track advantage".
Do we need to change any of these ideas? I don't see why it needs to done now. If you can't make a race, you can't be there. If you make a race, good, have some fun and be ready for the next challenge.
