It's been awhile boys but things are slowly progressing. We have lived in our new location for over a year now and I have been slowly building my new routed track. It is three lanes routed MDF with copper tape. I didn't use the braid because it would have cost too much for this project. Lanes are about 100' in length and it incorporates every turn that Le Mans has plus maybe one more. Almost all turns are banked to various degrees. and not all are the same radius or continuous radii. Meaning some turns have a more acute radius entering the turn or visa-versa or the acute radius may be at the apex of the turn. You have to figure it out for yourself . As you can see from the pictures it's not a big "commercial type" track with sweeping turns but I tried to mimic the turns of Le Mans as best I could with the space I have. At first I was planning to have a lot more space for in field stuff like the area behind the pits for parking and a carnival are just like at Le Mans but in order to have the length between the turns the track got in the way so now I will have just enough room for the pits an places for almost all of the cars entered in the 67' race which I am shooting for. I have almost all of the cars except a few obscure ones that aren't popular so they weren't made or I missed the boot on them when they were made and are currently not available except on evil bay and maybe found on evil bay overseas for $$$ . Beautiful work, Dave. Can't wait to run it! As you know I also headed down the road of trying to gather all the 1967 race cars. I also researched their grid position so I can line them all up. But I think, related to what you said, that I will be limiting my collection to just the "big block" displacement cars, which gives some hope of finishing this. Last year I detailed up a Scalex "white" Ford Mk II into the #16 Ford of France entry. Scalex has now announced one, but for the 68 race! cripes! Along comes this new company SRC, their 907 longtail being of smaller displacement for sure, but here they do 68 as well. Maybe in time. I think the biggest challenge/problem will be the team Surtees T70 coupes which ran Lagonda V8's at that race. One of them has a very non-stock looking rear end, that no existing model duplicates. As to those rare models, once in a while I stare at the Matras from LeMans Miniatures, but ahh, the price! Steve

Dave, This looks great as of April! Will we be racing soon? No racing yet. I'm waiting on purchasing a new home computer so I can get the hand me down for the track mate timing system. In the mean time I will try to do some landscaping. I have tinkered with just driving different cars on the track to see how it feels. Currently silicon tires DO NOT work at all... slip sliding everywhere! From what I understand the track has to be "rubbered in" before any tires really "hook up". But I am finding my box stock SCX MGA's with their stock rubber tires work really well and urathane tires work well too.

I would be willing to donate a computer if you need it. David A. Thanks for the generous offer but I should have one in the next month or two. I should be ready for the "public" after the first of the year...

Dave - your track is as much a work of art, as a race venue. WELL DONE!
