Class Rules for 2022-2023 Front Range Vintage Slot Car Club
True Vintage Strombecker “3 post” Bodied Cars
1. This class is for cars with a Strombecker “3 pin” body such as the Ford GT 40, Ford J car, Plymouth Barracuda, McKee, McLaren, Cheetah, Chaparral 2D, Chaparral 2H, Lotus 30, Lola, Dino Ferrari or Cro-Sal Olds.
2. May use any chassis for this body. May use an EJ’s reproduction chassis.
3. Motor is open to any Vintage motor: such as a Strombecker TC-32 or a “Red” Hemi.(no rewinds)
4. A few modern parts will be allowed for consumable items: gears, braids, tires, guide shoe (must be close in dimensions to original shoes. No commercial or 1/24th guide shoes. Reproduction wheels, such as EJ’s, will be allowed.
5. Modern wheel inserts allowed if they conform to period wheels.
6. May use general 1960’s ideas for “hop up”, such as using ball bearings. Must be Vintage original parts or reproduction parts only.
7. All other general rules apply.
NSR Formula 86/89
1. This class is for Box Stock Plus NSR Formula 86/89 cars only. May add weight and change tires only.
2. May use a factory livery or use a “white kit” car. May be a fantasy livery.
3. Must have numbers to represent a “race car”.
4. All cars must have a maximum track width of 68mm, front and back. This will be measured on the outside of the tires, including the sidewall.
5. Must use original gears. May replace aluminum crown gear with brass crown gear. Must retain original 27 tooth count on crown gear.
6. Must remove traction magnet
7. All other general rules apply.
Trans Am 1966-1974
1. This class is for cars that raced in Trans Am (1966-1974). This will be a limited/unlimited class.
2. Bodies may be factory original bodies for 1/32 slot cars or may be model bodies. Resin bodies are also OK. Hard bodies only.
3. Bodies must retain stock fender openings on the outside.
4. Chassis may be stock, modified, 3D printed, or scratch built. May use a Slot.it HRS chassis also.
5. Chassis must be mounted to the body. If not use original body posts, mounting screws must not be visible from the sides, no screws through the side of a body.
6. Motors must be rated at 23k or less at 12 volts. No ceramic magnet motors.
7. Tires must fit under the fenders.
8. Interiors may be “lightened”. Must have a driver torso, head and steering wheel as a minimum.
9. Wheels, axles, bushings only, gears and guides may be upgraded on all cars. No blank wheels, must have inserts.
10. Motor mounting must retain the factory styles only, Inline or sidewinder only.
11. True Vintage cars will be allowed. Must use “standard” vintage motors from any company. No Commercial or hop up motors, such as Atlas 206, Strombecker Red “Hemi” or Cox NASCAR.
12. All other general rules apply
Remember, we only allow TNT tire and track cleaner for all cars. Before placing any car on the track, make sure the tires and braids are dry. Please do not put any liquids on a host’s track. They have cleaned and prepared a track before a race. They don’t need to spend a day or more after a race to clean a track after a race to get the track back in condition for future racing.
