Here is what everyone has been waiting for:
Classes and Rules the 2019-2020 Front Range Vintage Slot Car and Historical Racing Club.
1. Box Stock plus - Cartrix Open wheel class
a. Cartrix Single-Seat Grand Prix/F-1 cars
b. This will be a limited class.
c. Box stock (with magnet removed, weights can be added)
d. Spec tires (racers will draw tires from a jar at each race meeting)
e. Indy Grips - 7005
f. Cartrix S-can or FF motors only, approx. 14,000 RPMs.
g. EXCEPTION-The original Mercedes-Benz W196 (red numeral 10) and Ferrari F 555 Supersqualo came with a much hotter motor than all subsequent Cartrix cars. These models can be raced, but the motor must be changed to a conventional Cartrix motor.
h. All other general rules will apply
2. Vintage - 1/24th Hard Bodies
a. Must have been a RTR or a kit car chassis and motor.
b. Hard bodies are injection molded bodies. Bodies must be 1969 or older. Can use a 1/24th model kit body with the Vintage running gear.
c. Looking for smaller sports cars (such as Ford GT, Lotus 23, Lotus 30, Chaparral 2, Ferrari 250 GTO, Scarab, Porsche 906, etc.).
d. No “Racer” models- (such as Cox Team Modified)
e. No “Thingies” (such as Cox LaCucaracha)
f. No AMT Turnpikes, COX NASCAR or other large cars.
g. No rewound motors or “Commercial track” motors allowed. No Cox NASCAR, Strombecker Red Hemi, etc.
h. Maximum tire tread width will be 1/2" (0.50 inch)
i. Overall width of car will be limited to 3 1/10" (3.10 inches)
j. Overall length of car will be limited to 7” (7.000 inches)
k. A few modern parts will be allowed for consumable items: gears, braids, tires, guide shoe (must be very close in dimension to original shoe. No commercial shoes).
l. Retro wheels will be allowed.
m. Modern wheel inserts will be allowed if they conform to period wheels.
n. All other general rules will apply.
3. Unlimited – 1970-1974 Le Mans
a. All cars that raced in Le Mans from 1970-1974, limited to “Fly, Flyslot, SRC, GB Track, Scalextrix, SCX, Ninco, Monogram and Carrera Bodies. In other words, only “non-racer” cars
b. Class is limited to automobiles that started the 24 Hours of Le Mans race between 1970 and 1974. Link to en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1970_24_Hours_of_Le_Mans to find eligible cars. At the bottom of the Wikipedia document one can click on any of the years that the 24 Hours of Le Mans was contested, to see a list of cars (for that particular year) that finished the race or that started the race. The slot car you choose to race in this class must be on the Wikipedia list of finishers and starters for the years 1970 to 1974.
c. Modern electric motors will be limited to a maximum of 25,000 RPMs. (Racers may choose a vintage motor and running gear, as well)
d. Must use plastic chassis, 3D-motor pod chassis OK. (All Vintage chassis OK, any material)
e. May use light weight interior
f. All other general rules will apply.
