Going back and looking at what has been suggested for cars for a new season:
Vintage 1/24 scale - open wheel Production cars Ford (maybe Mercury also) vs Chevrolet(maybe GM) 1/32 open wheel
Ninco Classics - Box stock + (Would be NC-1 and NC-8 motors) Slot.it Grp C Can Am - Thunderslot/Slot.it Can Am - all cars such as (Carrera, Monogram, Revell, Thunderslot, Slot.it, etc.)
Open/Unlimited 50's/60's NASCAR - Hard Body
Let us know of any additions, before I put up a poll.

Muscle cars - I have a K&B GTO that has been modified with 1/32 modern wheels (CB wheels) and tires (silicones to fit the wheels). It runs great with the illegal parts in it. Still as smooth as the original running gear.

P.S. -It is a street car - no numbers or lettering

Ok, since no one has said it, 50's and 60's NASCAR. Open/Unlimited class 23K max. Carrera and Monogram have made cars/bodies. There are 3D chassis available.

Jim W I like this idea but we ran them a few years ago and some of the cars weren't period looking IMO. Some had low profile tires and sat way too low for that period of NASCAR. If this goes thru, I think the cars should look like cars from that period--taller tires, sitting at the right height, etc. This club has always been about scale appearance, so... Just my opinion. agree, and wheel diameters were off as well. So, unless you want to run East LA lowriders. . .

OK,
Since the wheels on the Carrera cars are equal to the wheels on "DonK" cars, I will change my idea to "Late Model Stock cars". This is what I ran in the 60's/70's. 55 - 69 cars. No wings or "Wing"/Aero" cars. This was what the local track cars ran, with wheels that were 15 inch in diameter and up to 14 inch wide. Cut the fenders and keep them on the track!!! I think we had Hoosier 14.00 inch tires on our 55 Chevy, then we were able to update to a 65 Chevelle. Good ol short track racing. This way you can run any American body and not have to worry about the NASCAR body requirements. We ran with a 6 inch air cleaner, so when we ran the 65 Chevelle, we made a small air scoop with rear opening for the air cleaner. It looked like a Chevrolet Super Scoop. One of our Sponsors had a large "brake", so we could bend metal for the interior and the scoop. The wider tires would allow the Carrera 57 Chevy and the 60 Plymouth to have the same track width as the newer cars, I don't remember for sure, but the Carrera 60 Plymouth is at least a 1/4" too narrow for scale!!!
Jim W
P.S. With NASCAR, you would have to determine what type of track you were going to run on. Short track, Super Speedway, Midsize track or Dirt track to determine the proper "ride height". Since our slot cars don't have suspension, are you representing the car before, during the race or after the race?

So does that mean it will be Carrera 50s and 60s nascar with upgraded motor and stock chassis? Let's vote Jim! βΊπ

I like the CAnAM revisted,,, if people can't live with a mixture of "scales" maybe just a thunderslot,,,,,,,,,,,,, or, everthing except thunderslot Jim, that Nascar class seemed very interesting,, might be the closest thing wil will get to for "builders" ever though 3d chassis available ( not checked thos out yet) liking it more all the time as i type here
i like /24 open wheel, true vintage,,,,,, if if not people have them, i woule consider 1/32 true vintatage ( so Jim can give us a good whipping) I have one consideration on the 1/24 true vintage,,,,,,perhaps easing up on the abosolute scrutiny, most of parts are not that easy to get, may be expensive. And it makes it kind of hard for a new, younger new member to round up that stuff, after all a wheel is a wheel, a lot of the commercial cars never had an insert or nothing, it was kind of the normal back then.
yes, everone please turn in some suggestions soon

Don't shoot me for this,, but how about Fly Trucks, a real twist,, just have to make sure they clear everyones timing lights, I dont have any feel for how many of us already own a truck, and fully understand why people don't like to buy a slot car to race in one class in one season only,,

Daryl,
If you have a Trackmate timing bridge, the Fly trucks will clear the timing bridge as long as the timing bridge mounting is at the height of the track. I know this is true for the Carrera track. The Fly trucks also must clear any bridges and underpasses. I had to raise the old 4 lane track to get the Fly trucks under the bridge on a couple of the lanes. I would knock over my Scalextric Goodyear bridge, if it was not centered in the lanes. After a close look, the Goodyear bridge was "trimmed" a little to fit on another track. NSR and Racer makes some wheels for the Fly trucks. Mark has one with the wheels and, I think, an NC-5 motor in his. I think the Ninco NC-5 motor allowed the truck to have better brakes. Tim and I have Fly trucks with lights. Tim's is a step up from mine, his has working interior lights also!!! I am not sure how high Doug's and David A. tracks are for clearance for the Fly trucks.
