Steve I'm new to the group. I'm more of a vintage slot car collector than racer. I have looked at your photos many times. You have an incredible collection of vintage scenery and cars. A beautiful layout. The buildings are stunning. I'm sure you've had them for many years. It would take a very long time amass this much great vintage stuff. Your mga is awsome! Thanks for sharing.

Mark, looking back now on the photos: looks like a mix that particular day, of mostly vintage as well as contemporary Fly car models in the pits. (I also have a large collection of the contemporary cars, but always limited my purchases to pre-1980 prototypes so as to fit in better with the vintage stuff). The MGA was a build I did in response to my frustration at trying to get the Monogram one at a reasonable price; still haven't found one! This one uses the Lindberg vintage snap kit adapted to EJ's Monogram clone brass frame. All the components are original Monogram (wheels, etc). The 911 Porsche next to it also uses this frame, howbeit with a modern plafit motor. It's based on a modern LS static kit, and is modeled after a real car fielded by Vasek Polak in the 60's. I have a thing about his team/cars, having grown up just a mile or so away from his Porsche dealership in Hermosa Beach, CA. Right now my Vasek Polak "collection" stands at 8 cars. I guess I should update: with the room in my new house's basement, I've been able to set up four additional plastic tracks: one each from Monogram, Strombecker, Varney and Eldon. Lengths vary from about 20 feet up to I think about 45 for the Monogram. The favorite for most visitors is the Monogram with a 15 ft. front straight. I still find myself mostly running the pictured Revell, because of all the scenery. Oh, and running vintage stock is now approaching the 300 cars mark. Thanks for the compliments! Steve

Mark--Steve's basement is like walking into the '60s again--lots of great vintage cars and even more vintage parts. His tracks are really fun to drive on and really take you back to the hobby in its hey-day. Steve--I'm up to 100 vintage cars but still have a long way to go to catch up to your incredible collection. Tom

I've got about 60. All vintage. I'm building a small vintage revell layout right now. As soon as I figure how to post photos I will.
